BALLROOM TEAM AUDITION INFORMATION

FRIDAY, MAY 15, 2026 – CHOREOGRAPHY AUDITION
- AUDITION TIMES:
- 5:30-6:00 PM – Check In
- 6:00-9:00 PM – Choreography Audition
- DESCRIPTION:
- For Youth Dancers ONLY (10th-12th grade / 9th by invitation)
- Youth dancers will learn sections of the Youth A Ballroom/Latin Medleys and be judged on their ability to learn & perform the choreography.
- Mandatory for all dancers who wish to be considered for the Youth A Medley Team.
- DRESS CODE:
- Gentlemen: White T-shirt or Polo, Black Latin Pants or Athletic Pants, Ballroom/Latin Shoes.
- Ladies: Black T-shirt or Leotard, Black Latin Skirt/Ballroom Skirt or Black Leggings, Ballroom/Latin Shoes (practice shoes will not be permitted).
SATURDAY, MAY 16, 2026 – TECHNIQUE AUDITION
- AUDITION TIMES (SATURDAY):
- 8:00-8:45 AM Check In
- 8:45-11:00 AM Audition
- DESCRIPTION (SATURDAY):
- MANDATORY FOR ALL DANCERS (Grades 1-12)
- Dancers must come prepared to dance a cha-cha and waltz (Preferably syllabus but open routines are ok).
- Dancers must audition with a partner, although the partner doesn’t necessarily need to also be auditioning for the program.
- DRESS CODE (SATURDAY):
- Gentlemen: White Shirt, Black Tie, Black Slacks or Latin Pants, Ballroom/Latin Shoes
- Ladies: Black Leotard, Black Latin/Ballroom Skirt, Ballroom/Latin Shoes (practice shoes will not be permitted)

- MANDATORY FOR ALL DANCERS (Grades 1-12)
- Pee-Wee Dancers do not need to come prepared with a routine – they will learn a short combination at the audition.
- Pee-Wee Dancers are encouraged to bring a partner, although they are not required to bring one.
- DRESS CODE (SATURDAY):
- Gentlemen: White Shirt, Black Tie, Black Slacks or Latin Pants, Ballroom/Latin Shoes
- Ladies: Black Leotard, Black Latin/Ballroom Skirt, Ballroom/Latin Shoes (practice shoes will not be permitted)

AUDITION PREP CLASS INFORMATION

NOTE: REGISTRATION FOR AUDITION PREP CLASS IS THROUGH DANCE STUDIO PRO
We offer Audition Preparation Classes for any dancers (grades 4-12) wanting to get extra help before the audition. The classes will include 15 hours of instruction spanning five weeks, with classes being held on Fridays and Saturdays. Students will learn a waltz and cha cha routines and will also learn technique that will help them look their very best! It is also a great place to potentially meet a partner to audition with!
NOTE: THESE CLASSES ARE NOT MANDATORY. THEY ARE JUST A RESOURCE FOR THOSE WANTING EXTRA HELP BEFORE AUDITIONS.
TOTAL COST OF THE COURSE: $85 per dancer for all ten classes (This is separate from the $20 audition registration fee)

PARTNER MIXER INFORMATION
Looking for a partner? Come to our mixer on Tuesday, March 17! Connect with other dancers and find a great partner for next year!
What to Expect
Our coaches will begin by sharing helpful guidance on how to choose a compatible ballroom partner. They will then teach a short basic routine in their respective styles. Dancers will practice these routines while rotating partners, allowing everyone to dance with multiple potential partners in a structured, supportive environment.
At the end of the session, dancers may exchange contact information with anyone they are interested in scheduling an official partner tryout with.
Each dancer should attend with one parent or guardian. Dancers are welcome to participate in sessions outside their age group, as competitors may dance “up” an age level when partnered with an older dancer.
For dancers who plan to compete at the Extreme Competition in April and/or prefer to wait until after Team Placements in May, an additional Ballroom Partner Mixer will be offered following Team Auditions in May (if needed).
Partner Mixer Times:
Youth Dancers: 6:30-7:30 AM
Junior Dancers: 5:00-6:00 PM
Pre-Teen Dancers: 4:00-4:45 PM
