RYAN PODZIKOWSKI has been dancing ballroom for seven years, training and competing in International Ballroom, Latin, and American Smooth styles. He has also danced Polynesian dance for 17 years and has taught dance for 5 years. Between his personal dancing, his job, and rehearsals with the BYU Ballroom Dance Company, Ryan spends about 35 hours a week either teaching ballroom or dancing ballroom himself. Ryan has also performed professionally for many years with Island Style Dance Studio throughout Utah and in Illinois, Hawaii, and Michigan.
Besides dance, Ryan has also trained for 17 years in Shotokan Karate and is a second-degree Black Belt. He started a Shotokan Karate program at Island Style five years ago.
Ryan has placed in Amateur and Pre-Championship finals in ballroom and smooth categories. He is a current member of the Brigham Young University Ballroom Touring Team and traveled to Blackpool, England in May 2016 to compete with the award-winning team in the British Formation Championships. Ryan currently teaches ballroom and Karate at Island Style Dance Studio and in 2016, started a ballroom dance program at Maeser Preparatory Academy. He also teaches private lessons.
