As an alumnus of the BYU Ballroom Dance Company, Parker is highly experienced in competitive and artistic ballroom dancing and has been doing so for over 12 years. He began in Jr. High School and continued dance through High School where he competed for and won three Utah State High School Ballroom Championship Titles. He has had several performance opportunities at major venues such as the Hope of America event held annually in Provo, Disneyland/ Disney’s California Adventure, and Carnival Cruise Line. He has extensive private training in both International and American styles of Ballroom Dance.
In the youth age category, he and his partner were runners-up for the 2009 US National Amateur Youth American Smooth Championship Title. That same year they were also U.S. National Youth International Pre-Championship Latin American Finalists.
Parker holds a Licentiate Certification in the Latin American Style from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance. He has been an instructor since 2013, and is also currently an assistant director of BYU Youth’s Junior A Formation Team (ages 12-15), the current 2016 U.S. National Junior Formation Title holders for both Latin American and Ballroom Styles. He is a Geography Major at BYU emphasizing in Urban Planning, and has already completed his Ballroom Dance Minor. He enjoys teaching kids of all ages not only to dance and dance well, but to love what they do and make it a meaningful experience for themselves. He also offers private instruction.
